Walk cycle with Maya

Thoroughly enjoying myself with 3D.

Whilst I'm in Dublin I have a lot of free time after work so I thought I'd be productive.
I was watching a documentary on the bayeux tapestry and wanted to use that a a reference for modelling with Maya.

I decided to tackle a boat and rigged up two little fellas.

This was the reference image:

GERONIMO. My attempt at cartoon animation :)

Something different to my usual motion graphics. Having myself some silly fun with After Effects.
It took 2 weeks on and off to complete.

I present.. my first animated cartoon! :)

I really enjoy drawing cartoon things and animating with After Effects.
It never occurred to me to put the two together until a couple of weeks ago.

Rigging characters and editing with After Effects.

Cleaning up the scanned images and colouring in with Photoshop.

Pencil drawings of all the assets.

British Heart Foundation

My latest motion graphics work for the British Heart Foundation. Directed by Miki Cash at Wonky Films.

Doing this project about 'No Smoking Day' was brilliant as it knocked some sense into me and got me to stop smoking. :)

Dreamscape

This dreamscape started as a pencil drawing which I then inked and scanned into photoshop CS6 to tinker with.

Third draft.
The colouring in begins!

Second draft.
Pencil and inking stage.
That's me in the middle there being lifted from my bed.

First Draft.
Initial sketch up.

Cellist - Oil painting

An oldie but a goodie.
One of my favourite paintings I did a while ago.

Fairies and Cherubs

Corel Photo Paint

Around 1999 - 2000 a friend at college introduced me to Corel Photo Paint 5.
At first I scoffed at the idea of using computers with my artwork, but the more I experimented with the software the more I found it a liberating experience.
I no longer had to worry about making mistakes and could purely focus on making pictures I thought looked awesome.

So as soon as I got my head around it, overwhelming urge to do a bunch of light sabres..

and heat vision, and ufos..
